About Wanneroo SC
Principal’s Welcome
Wanneroo Secondary College has been successfully catering for the educational, personal and social developmental needs of the young people of Wanneroo and surrounding areas since its opening in 1977.
We are, in a very real sense, your local High School, occupying a tranquil bush setting within two kilometres of Wanneroo Central. We are extensively involved with the local community through our relationships with Wanneroo City Council, Universities and TAFE, industry groups, the Western Australian Football Commission, and the local branches of Rotary and the Army Cadets. The college is well serviced by a network of Public Transport Authority buses, providing a safe and reliable transport options for students traveling to and from school.
Our innovative curriculum allows us to cater for the full range of students’ talents and ambitions. Academic Extension and Robotics and Coding Programs in Lower School, accredited Specialist Programs (Performing Arts and Australian Rules Football), Japanese Language, specialised Vocational studies (conducted at our Joondalup campus) and work-experience opportunities enable us to provide clearly defined and structured pathways for students aiming for university entry and for those wanting to take up trades or other avenues of entry into the workforce.
Building on the long-term success of our Learning Centre, our endorsed Education Support Program caters for students with diagnosed disabilities, providing a modified learning environment and post school pathways. Education support students are catered for in smaller classes through individualised education planning that encourages academic and social-emotional development.
All students are well supported to transition through the stages of their high school career by an experienced team of Student Services staff at Wanneroo Secondary College. Our team is dedicated to the social-emotional development of every student. Staff work alongside families, and parental involvement at all levels is encouraged and appreciated.
Major building and upgrade programs have provided us with state-of-the-art facilities for Music and Performing Arts, dramatically expanded our computing and ICT capacity and renovated and improved virtually all other learning area environments and equipment. In 2020 we opened a Sports Centre and Health and Physical Education facility boasting new indoor and outdoor courts, modern change room facilities and teaching spaces. In 2023, our Performing Arts Centre opened to provide learning and performing spaces that support artistic endeavours and provide a hub for the community to gather. With a focus on ongoing transformation, Wanneroo Secondary College is set to open a new Education Support Hub and improved car park facilities in 2026 that will further cater for young people in our community with disabilities.
At Wanneroo Secondary College we ask every student to, “Star in Your Future,” with the believe that they each have unlimited potential to shine.
Justine Mc-Naught-Conroy, Principal.
